On the corner of Cuba Street and Sol y Luz Street stands Cuba’s oldest convent, founded in 1644. The nuns left in 1919, fleeing a noisy built-up area. Today the home of the national centre for conservation, restoration and museology, the restored structure (except the church) houses craft workshops specialising in art restoration. The other attraction here is its luxuriant cloister, half-obscured by blooming vegetation.
