Like Varadero, Guardalavaca is an international holiday hotspot with large hotel complexes on the seafront and relentless tourist activity, but the local scenery - picture postcard beaches, coral reefs and pleasant hills historically grazed by livestock – is wonderful, and beyond lies a verdant hinterland.
