San Juan de los Remedios : Michelin's recommendations

Founded in the 16C, Remedios provided a core of settlers for its larger neighbour Santa Clara, since when it seems to have rested on its laurels. Nothing remarkable happens here - except a colourful December carnival, the Parrandas Remedianas – and few tourists visit, as a result of which it is refreshingly authentic. Soak up its relaxed ambience on the main square, Parque José Martí, its colourful architecture patinated by the passage of time, before heading to Cayo de Santa María for a dip.
