Visible from afar, the proud yellow bell tower is a vestige of the former convent of San Francisco de Asís (18C), which has had a tumultuous history. Used as a henhouse, briefly a school, then a barracks, it today has a new vocation: to record the war waged by the current regime against bandits (counter-revolutionaries) who opposed Castro in the 1960s.
