Sensible footwear and swimming gear are in order for a visit to the Parque Natural Topes de Collantes (altitude 700m). With an average temperature around 20° it is ideal for walking. Shaded by a luxuriant vegetation of creepers with the sound of wild parrots in the background, it offers lovely swims in the warm water of its natural pools, one of which has been carved out by a 62m-high waterfall, the Salto del Caburní. The modest settlement of Topes de Collantes has grown up around a thermal spring.
