Bonao : Michelin's recommendations

Bonao, prettily nicknamed the "hortensia town", is the capital of the province of Monseñor Nouel. Renowned for its pottery, it is a prosperous little town surrounded by rice paddies, orchards and meadows. The surrounding mountains withhold iron, nickel and silver deposits. Bonao is an old town: its first fort was built in 1493 at the request of Christopher Columbus. Under Trujillo's dictatorship, Bonao belonged to the dictator's brother who installed his personal army, los Cocuyos de la Cordillera, here.
