On the journey to see the whales, you will catch sight of this tiny paradisiacal lush green island, Cayo Levantado. Its tiny paths will take you to a host of still pristine beaches and shores. However many tourist agencies organise day trips to the island between 11am and 3pm and the place is full of picnickers. At such times, the island is not half as enchanting and it is advisable to book a visit outside this "peak" period.
