The Samaná headland juts out into the Atlantic Ocean in the northwest of the country. Pristine landscapes which are home to four main villages: Las Terrenas, Las Galeras, Sánchez and Samaná. The latter is the departure point for an exceptional adventure to see the humpback whales out at sea. Closer to the shore, a string of heavenly beaches is lapped by crystal clear water, ideal for water sport enthusiasts. Samaná is also the departure point for excursions to Parque Nacional de Los Haitises on the other side of the bay. Lush flora and wildlife await the explorer.
