San Pedro de Macorís : Michelin's recommendations

On the southeastern coast of the island, home to heavenly islets, protected flora and caves, such as the Cave of Marvels, San Pedro de Macorís, the third largest town, has prospered thanks to the sugar cane industry. Affluent Colonial-style abodes and prestigious edifices bear witness to the era when the Blacks from the British West Indies emigrated here, whose descendents, the Cocolos, today express their strong identity in local festivals.
