El Batey is home to all the tourist structures of the highly popular seaside resort of Sosúa. Several hundred Jews fleeing Hitler's regime in 1938 originally founded this district, when they settled in a neighbourhood outside the original village, now called Los Charamicos (exercise caution), leaving an immense beach between both districts. Whatever the case, remember that outdoor events all stop at midnight or 1am, because of the curfew implemented by the authorities to fight against prostitution.
