Crossing of the Septentrional Cordillera Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

Two handsome roads cut across the Cordillera Septentrional, one from Santiago and one from Moca. As you admire the landscape, watch out for potholes in the road. To go to Puerto Plata from Santiago, take the Carretera Turística, via La Cumbre. It is in this region that the amber mines are located and it is the road to get to the Plantación Tropical. From Moca, a picturesque road meets up with the Atlantic coast level with the village of Sabaneta de los Cangrejos, near Sosúa.
