Aswan Museum of Antiquities : Michelin's recommendations

Bibendum
Installed in the colonial house of an engineer of the old dam since 1912, the museum has a collection of objects from the Predynastic period up to Byzantine times, originating from the Aswan region and Lower Nubia. In spite of its old-fashioned appearence, the museum has a certain charm and is worth visiting to see pieces such as the rhino-shaped slate palette, sarcophagi and mummies, statues of the nomarchs of Elephantine, and especially the annex ( left on your way out of the museum) that explains the finds from the most recent digs.
