Installed in the colonial house of an engineer of the old dam since 1912, the museum has a collection of objects from the Predynastic period up to Byzantine times, originating from the Aswan region and Lower Nubia. In spite of its old-fashioned appearence, the museum has a certain charm and is worth visiting to see pieces such as the rhino-shaped slate palette, sarcophagi and mummies, statues of the nomarchs of Elephantine, and especially the annex (left on your way out of the museum) that explains the finds from the most recent digs.
