Philae : Michelin's recommendations
Philae is first and foremost the site on which, according to legend, Isis chose to build her home. Following the goddess's cult, Nectanebo I (XXX Dynasty) and the Ptolemies built a temple (which was completed by the Romans). It was dismantled and relocated on the island of Agilkia in 1968 to safeguard it from the rising waters of Lake Nasser. Take a trip to explore Hadrian's Gate (a fine scene depicting the sources of the Nile), the Temple of Hathor, erected to glorify the goddess of music (scenes of musicians), and Trajan's Kiosk.
