Baharîya : Michelin's recommendations
This "northern oasis" planted with date palms and fruit trees today attracts tourists for itshot springs and prestigious archaeological remains. After the discovery of a Greco-Roman necropolis which held several mummies (to be seen in the Museum of the Golden Mummies), an entire Old Kingdom city was exhumed from the sand in 2007. Bahariya is also the gateway to the Oasis Route.
