Salah El Din Citadel:
Visit the Salah El Din Citadel. Serving as one of the city's most popular tourist attractions, this monument served as a fortress and a royal city for the Abbasid ruler.
Alabaster Mosque:
While in the Citadel, explore the most visible mosque in Cairo, the Mosque of Muhammad Ali (Alabaster Mosque). Built in memory of Muhammad Ali Pasha's oldest son, Tusun Pasha, this monument remains one of the first buildings seen when approaching the city.
Sultan Hassan Mosque:
Considered a masterpiece of Mamluk architecture, this compact monument was completed in 1363 AD. The mosque and religious school was designed with the idea that 4 schools of thought (Shafi, Maliki, Hanafi, and Hanbali) could be taught under the same roof.
Mosque of Rifa'i (Royal Mosque):
Complete your tour with a visit to the Al-Rifa'i Mosque. Completed in 1912, this structure was built to replace the shrine of Ahmad al-Rifa'i, the medieval-era Islamic saint.
