The smallest and least populated of the oases in the Libyan Desert constitutes one of Egypt's 26 provinces. Like Bahariya, it is located within a depression. Isolated, far-flung and relaxing, Farafra is the archetypal oasis, akin to an eagerly anticipated glass of water.
