Located at the end of former caravan tracks, Edfu has become the main stopover for cruises along the Nile. A centre for agriculture and sugar production, the city owes its popularity to its temple, which is the best preserved in all of Egypt. Unfortunately, tourists tend not to stay very long, but their exposure to the crowds is as intense as it is brief.
