Spend the day on the West Bank, exploring the major sites and monuments around the ancient city of Thebes. Visit the tombs of the Pharaohs, and enjoy lunch under the Egyptian sun.
Departing from Luxor, cross the Nile and head towards the ancient city of Thebes and the Theban Necropolis. Visit the Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens, two magnificent valleys that are home to the tombs to the ancient Pharaohs of Egypt. See the Colossi of Memnon, two massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, which tower over the Theban Necropolis, facing the mighty Nile River.
Move on from the tombs to the impressive Hatshepsut temple at El Deir El Bahary, dedicated to Queen Hatshepsut, who ruled during the 18th Dynasty. Stop at the Medinet Habu, the mortuary temple of Ramesses III, and see the impressive architecture and inscribed reliefs depicting events during his reign.
Make your way to the Valley of Artisans (Deir el madiana), an ancient Egyptian village which was home to the artisans who worked on the tombs in the Valley of the Kings during the 18th to 20th dynasties of the New Kingdom period. Finally, see The Ramesseum , the mortuary temple of Pharaoh Ramesses II.
