Spend your morning discovering the treasures of the Karnak and Luxor Temple Complexes. Begin at the Karnak Temple Complex amid the vast collection of chapels and pylons, taking special note of the Great Temple of Amen and a large structure that was started by Pharaoh Ramses II. Stroll the Avenue of the Sphinxes and wander through the Great Court into the Great Hypostyle Hall with its 134 columns towering overhead. A visit to the rear of the Karnak Temple Complex takes you to the sacred lake where pharaohs and their offerings to the gods were purified. Continue on to the Luxor Temple Complex—dominated by statues of Pharaoh Ramses II—featuring one of the original pair of obelisks, the other of which currently stands on the Place de la Concorde in Paris.
