Thousands of blocks, most bearing superb fragments of reliefs, lie in rows waiting to take their place in the site's various monuments. Some have been reconstituted by anastylosis, for instance, the horned altar, Thutmosis IV's Calcite Chapel, the White Chapel of Sesostris I (first builder of Karnak) and Hatshepsut's Red Chapel or bark shrine.
