The promenade along the Corniche takes you from Luxor to Karnak. Cruise boats bound for the Nile moor to the north; to the south are feluccas that will transport you to the opposite bank, towards Thebes. Before setting sail it is well worth venturing into Luxor's souk (north of the temple). It was restored and repaved in 2006, and its shops, jewellery stands and cafés unfurl under a welcoming pergola.
