Mersa Matruh : Michelin's recommendations

The bay of Mersa Matruh, on the Mediterranean coast, is where Cleopatra and Mark Antony courted. The endless white sandy beaches lapped by turquoise waters (go to Agiba beach, whose apt name means "miraculous" in Arabic) are the perfect setting for such a romantic past. The city is also the point of departure for excursions to the Siwa Oasis and Libya.
