Situated on the south coast, the charming town of Ekenäs was originally a small fishing village, on a peninsula jutting out into the gulf of Finland. Today it is the main resort and cultural hub of the western part of Uusimaa province. On the seafront, its medieval centre, Barcken, has narrow streets lined by 18C-19C wooden houses. Linvävaregatan/Liinankankurinkatu is one of the most picturesque streets.
