The museum comprises around 100 18C-19C buildings (numbers given here are those used by the museum). The Niemelä farm (7) demonstrates that saunas could be used as temporary shelter. Karuna church (8) is the oldest building (1686); the Carelian Pertinotsha (19) farmhouse is made of logs; and the Antti agricultural buildings (25) around the two courtyards illustrate the lifestyle of a rich southwestern farming family. The Lapp village (27) has lofts mounted on posts to protect them from animals.
