Seat of Finland’s Sami parliament, Inari has some distinctive features pertaining to this minority. The Sami church (1951) has a 1938 altarpiece, The Revelation of Christ to the Sami People. Siida houses the Sami museum, north Lapland nature centre (info on forests, nature parks, mountain-bike routes, cabin rental and fishing and shooting permits) and a restaurant. Exhibitions show how the Sami coped with the region’s harsh climate and an ecomuseum gives an insight on their culture and surroundings.
