Marine Museum : Michelin's recommendations
The boat-shaped entrance to the museum is decorated with figureheads. One of the most famous sailing ships is Herzogin Cecile, which sank in the Channel in 1936 returning from a victory in a sea race. Visitors can see the captain's cabin, saloon and kitchen. Standing in front of the museum is the steel four-master Pommern, the only one of its kind to have survived. It evokes the golden age of sail, when majestic clippers (whose future was already threatened by steamships) ran between Europe and Australia.
