An ingenious underground construction (by Birch-Bonderup-Thorup and Waade, 1992) crowned with an elongated dome which, on the surface, looks like an ice tunnel. Two exhibitions dedicated to living conditions in the Arctic are shown here. The Arctic Centre introduces the ecology, zoology and ethnology of the Arctic regions, while the Lapland Provincial Museum illustrates life in Lapland from prehistoric times to the present day. There is also a centre for information on Lapland and the Arctic regions, a restaurant and a shop selling Sami crafts.
