The charm of the location inspired Sibelius's Third Symphony. The piano in the lounge was a fiftieth birthday present from his friends. A sketch by Albert Edelfelt shows the musician at the age of 38, when he moved to Ainola; left of the window, the Winter Landscape (1915) is by Pekka Halonen, Sibelius' neighbour and friend. In the functionalist-style library (1930s) is his armchair and two watercolours (1894) by Gallen-Kallela.
