In 1902 Pekka Halonen built this imposing pine house. The interior is simple, functional and somewhat spartan. His cousin Arttu created the decor of the doors. The workshop, dining room and kitchen were on the ground floor, the bedrooms upstairs. Halonen studied at the Académie Julien in Paris from 1890 to 1892 and attended Gauguin's classes in 1904. His preferred subjects were Finnish people and nature. Most of his works are in private collections, but temporary exhibitions give an idea of his art.
