Aléria : Michelin's recommendations

Aléria is the only site in France to retain major evidence of the Phocaeans (6C BC). Situated at the mouth of the Tavignano valley, which links the coast with the interior, and near a natural sheltered harbour, Aléria was the first city founded in Corsica. The city experienced varying fortunes until the fall of Rome and the Vandal invasions. It now provides an interesting introduction to Mediterranean civilisations and also offers pleasant walks along the lagoons and banks of the Tavignano.
