The cathedral was rebuilt on the Romanesque foundations of a cathedral destroyed by fire in 1230. The nave, flooded with light, has a sensation of lightness with its slender triforium crowned by large windows. Beautiful stained glass bears witness to the development of this art from the 12C-16C. A few works of art are displayed in the transept and choir, including a majestic 17C baldaquined high altar, attributed to Jules Hardouin-Mansart, and, around the choir, several superb Gothic tombstones.
