Opened in 2008, the Charles de Gaulle Memorial, devoted to the life and work of the General, covers the history of the 20C. Photographs, documents, sound and audiovisual archives depict the highlights of Charles de Gaulle’s military and political career, as well as some more personal family souvenirs. Above the Memorial stands a tribute to the General, a huge 44.3m-high Lorraine Cross that was inaugurated on 18 June 1972 and which dominates the surrounding village and forests including Clairvaux Forest.
