Built on both sides of the River Moselle, Epinal is the town with the largest area of forest in France (3 600ha) and undoubtedly one of the most floral too: on every street corner, in every square and park, flowers bring a touch of colour to Epinal. This is not really surprising for a town that became famous for tremendously popular coloured prints representing La Fontaine's fables or illustrating the current events of the 19C.
