The west façade, framed by two high towers, contains a porch surmounted by arcatures and bays. Like the nave, transept and aisles, it dates from the 12 and 13C. Notice the ladders suspended from the vault of the right-hand aisle: is there some work in progress? No! They have been kept in the church in homage to saint Valentine since the night of 14 February 1445 when the Armagnacs, terrified by the howling of a Guebwiller woman, ran off leaving the ladders against the walls of the town.
