The ramparts have retained 7 gates and 12 towers showing the evolution of fortifications from the Hundred Years War to the 19C. The watch-path offers a pleasant walk and magnificent views of the Marne Valley, the Lac de la Liez and the Vosges Mountains to the east, the Colline des Fourches crowned by a chapel to the north, and finally, to the west, Bonnelle Valley and, further afield, the Plateau de Langres and its wooded slopes.
