The abbey church of Marmoutier is a true jewel of Alsatian Romanesque architecture. It also has an important Silbermann organ that Albert Schweitzer used to enjoy playing. Next door is the Euopean Organ Centre, located in the vast former monastic tithe barn, which illustrates the history of this venerable instrument (exhibiting pedal and pipe organs by Silbermann and various other examples) and that of some of its foremost proponents.
