Downstream from the confluence of the Meuse and the Semoy, Monthermé is strung out along 2km on both the right bank (Ville Neuve) and the left bank (Viellle Ville) of the River Meuse. From the bridge there is a good view. This large town of old houses is the ideal base from which to venture into the Ardennes on foot: from Roc-la-Tour, many paths lead off up rocky spurs; or from la Roche à Sept Heures head to Longue Roche for wild and beautiful views.
