The River Semois meanders from Monthermé to Linchamps, wending its way through prairies and rugged schistose slopes covered with oaks, firs and birch, and home to roe deer and wild boar. The valley is a haven of peace. Sculptures by Jean Morette have been installed by landscapist Marc Soucat at the entrances to some of the villages. They evoke nature, as well as metalwork, the traditional industry of the valley, which nowadays specialises in farming machines and car-related products.
