This original hall church (1500-1545) houses the extraordinary Sepulchre, or Entombment of Christ, by Ligier Richier (1554-1564). It has been undergoing a long process of restoration since 2000. Thirteen life-size figures depict one of the incidents involved in the Entombment of Christ: Salomé is preparing the tomb, Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus are supporting Christ's body, while Mary Magdalene is kissing his feet and St Joanna is holding the crown of thorns. In the background, the Virgin is being supported by St John and Mary of Cleophas.
