Thann : Michelin's recommendations

An old local maxim says that, although the Strasbourg bell tower is the highest, and the one in Fribourg-en-Brisgau the bulkiest, the Thann bell tower is the finest. The Gothic church is particularly attractive. It is dedicated to St Theobald, a saint who lost his right thumb in strange circumstances. On a nearby slope grow the vines that produce the renowned Rangen wine. Thann is also at the far end of two of the most attractive routes in Alsace, the Wine Route and the Route des Crêtes.
