Lac Pavin Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

Legend has it that the old town of Besse was swallowed up by Lake Pavin as a divine punishment and it was said that throwing a stone into it would unleash terrible storms. However, the view over the glittering waters from the Fraux parking area is far from forbidding. The lake lies in a volcanic crater surrounded by forest, and its waters are populated by char and trout, some of which of amazing size. Ideal for boating and fishing.

    Pros

    L'exemple type de la promenade familiale. On en fait le tour par les sentiers trés facilement, même pour des petites jambes. Le Pavin est un "maar", un lac de cratère, bien frais et ombragé qui fera passer un agréable moment

    Cons

    On le dit insondable... Ne le croyez pas, c'est juste pour impressioner les touristes ! Mais 105 mètres de profondeur tout de même...

    2 années successives nous étions en vacances à Besse (très joli village médiéval) et nous avons apprécié ce très joli lac
