Billom
: Michelin's recommendations
This fortified town in the Auvergne crossed by the Angaud river has a particularly well-preserved medieval quarter. The “Medieval Billom” tour takes you around the key buildings, including the Maison du Bailli (16C), Maison du Chapitre, remains of the medieval university, and the beautiful Gothic Saint-Cerneuf church. Many events take place in Billom throughout the year, like the famous garlic festival every August and the new puppet arts festival. Don’t miss the very lively Monday market.
