The Musée de la Soierie documents the silk-making traditions of Charlieu. It presents pieces made locally, such as the one worn by the statue of Notre Dame de Septembre, patron saint of weavers. It traces the evolution of the industry's techniques through an exhibition of silk-related professions. There are regular demonstrations, including that of a 19C warp beam. Designs by major couturiers are exhibited on the upper floor, alongside a video projection about traditional and current techniques of silk making.
