Facing the Town Hall, the Opéra has a classical façade surmounted by eight muses, and an enormous semi-cylindrical glass window by Jean Nouvel. Inside, the rococo foyer is still there, as well as an amphitheatre, an Italian hall that seats 1300 and a glass-roofed restaurant. Since its renovation (which can be seen in all its glory when the strong red lights accentuate the contrasts), it was promoted to national opera status.
