Mozac
: Michelin's recommendations
Mozac, just outside Riom and on the edge of the Pays des Combrailles, is famous for the capitals and the treasury in its church. In the 7C, St Calminius founded an abbey here that still retains important Romanesque elements. The chancel features an elaborate Romanesque bestiary (griffins, dragons, monkey on a lead) and 15C stalls. The abbey contains the reliquary of St Calminius, thought to date from 1168, and the 17C reliquary of St Austremonius, one of the few painted examples in France.
