Initially built as a Romanesque basilica (1396), this Gothic cathedral was completed in the late 15C, on the orders of the Duke of Berry. The five naves are strikingly austere. Under the organ loft, a 15C mural depicts purgatory and hell. At the entrance to the chancel, admire the large wooden Christ (13C or 15C), known as the “Beautiful Black God”, a 15C Pietà in the Chapelle du Saint-Sacrement, and the gilded bronze reliquary, containing the relics of St Flour, in the Chapelle du Tombeau.
