Tourist attractions Salles-Arbuissonnas-en-Beaujolais : Things to see and do

  • Place du Chapitre

    pl. du Chapitre

This picturesque square, shaded by lime trees, is where the canonesses had their comfortable houses. Note the church chevet and Romanesque bell-tower with a pyramid-shaped roof, typical of 12C Beaujolais churches.

  • The entrance to this small, rural church is through a pretty Romanesque doorway. The prior's pulpit dating from the 16C and the 18C stalls are particularly noteworthy.

  • Cloister

    r. de l'Église

A flamboyant-style door marks the entrance to the cloister. This Romanesque building now has only one gallery with a graceful colonnade. The cloister courtyard was once the community's cemetery but is now planted with flowers around a central well.
