Souvigny in the Bocage Bourbonnais region is an abbey town now enjoying a revival. Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul priory church, a dependency of Cluny abbey, has undergone major renovation. Its famous Zodiac pillar is now a key exhibit in the Musée de Souvigny. After visiting the abbey and gardens, where the Journées Musicales d’Automne event featuring its Clicquot organ is held in late September, wander around the streets of the village, the setting for a large medieval fair in July.
