This pass is located at the climatic border between the Northern and Southern Alps and is the point where the cool valleys of Vercors meet the depression of the Bassin de Die, with its southern aridity. The contrast is particularly palpable when the weather starts acting strangely: mist over Vercors and a bright clear sky over Diois, for example. From the uppermost ski lift station follow the ridge line southward until you reach the viewpoint indicator. The view over the peaks takes in the Grande Moucherolle to the north, the Grand Veymont to the east, and to the south you can make out Mt Ventoux on the horizon.
