Located on the hillside, the Dominican Ste-Marie-de-la-Tourette Monastery was designed by Le Corbusier and built between 1956 and 1959. It is a remarkable example of modern architecture applied to religious life. The rough concrete buildings form a quadrilateral sealed to the north by a very bare church, which light enters from the sides via narrow horizontal slits. The monks' cells look onto the surrounding prairies and woods.
